Gathering DJs Drem, JNR and Arms, we had a chat about the relevance of vinyl, what makes up their respective collections and the unbeatable feeling of “stepping out of a record shop with a bag full of vinyl”. Turns out these guys aren’t just your run-of-the-mill purists (Drem: “I won’t just buy any kind of vinyl, because you want to have a good collection of quality stuff”), but proper obsessives who have always loved, cherished and depended on the format for all the good things in life. Drem says, “What vinyl means to me is that it’s like my life’s soundtrack”, while JNR notes, “It’s a constant reminder of how much you love music and how much you sacrificed to get it.”  Now, watch the interview below:

The crew also recently setup Choice Cuts Goods + Coffee, a newly-opened concept joint at Serangoon Road, combining street culture, coffee, beer and vinyl converge in Singapore.

The physical retail concept arose as a natural progression through Blaccsmith – their combined events consultancy curating music, art and experience. Expect a handpicked range of vinyl records spanning Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, Jazz and Soul. Last but not least, they will have monthly events such as ‘Coffee Breaks’, a vinyl-only session serving up beats, music, coffee, beer and house pours. Do check the store out!
